Has anyone done part-time Reception for their speech delayed child?

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if anyone has tried part time Reception as an option for your developmentally delayed and/or summer born kid/s and then repeated reception again or something to that effect?

We wanted to do deferred Reception because my son is 23 June born and has speech/language delay and possible ADHD, but it's not really the best option because we are moving to Australia next year.

We are moving to Australia next year September so my son would do Reception in the UK and then go to Montessori primary school in Australia which doesn't quite have the same grading. Because of how the school years/terms will misalign, we think it's important that he has some Reception here, otherwise he will be 1.5 years behind if we deferred Reception start.

So with the part-time Reception option I'm not as worried about his UK Reception friends moving up to Year 1 without him, because we are moving countries anyway.

I'm concerned that if he does part time Reception that his peers will bond more while he's not there. And also that they will gain skills more rapidly because they have more class time, and he will get left behind.

Does anyone have experience or thoughts/advice to offer? Thanks!
