Hi
I'm just after guidance really as this is new territory for me. Son has been recently diagnosed with dyslexia. He's apparently academically able but the dyslexia is preventing him from reaching his potential. We've arranged a Ed psychology assessment at the start of year 9.
In the meantime we've just had parents evening and been repeatedly told he struggles to get his thoughts down on paper. In conversation he has good ideas and thoughts but he does not seem to realise he needs to write more than a sentence to present an argument. He can explain stuff face to face but getting it on to paper is a real challenge. He hates writing which may be part of it.
Is this a symptom of dyslexia that others have experienced or something else? I'm struggling to know how to support him.
Thanks
I
