Does anyone have any recent experience of Frewen college?

I'm considering it for my dyslexic son .

Thanks.

I agree with this.

The staff are amazing and really are getting the best out of my son.

I have heard great things, but then a family member who went to look for their son (15years ago!) said awful things about behaviour of children and extreme SEN (which my son doesn’t have) I admit it’s rocked me a bit as I felt confident it was for him.
Also it’s a bit tired/ run down? I don’t think it matters but does it?! I’m in such a worry over it.

I do realise the above is ridiculous! As it’s about the teaching bringing my son in, which it sounds alike it would…

I think some parts of the building s did look a bit run down on our recent visit, however the overwhelming feeling my ds & I had when being show n around was how lovely the place is.
The children seemed happy in and out of lessons, and the teachers appeared to be very passionate and enthusiastic and caring.
Of course, we were only there for tiny snap shot of a day,
We've visited a few places and we found the feeling we got from here to be the best!
15 yrs is a long time ago now.
The head teacher said to me that the %of behaviour sen is low. but I Can't remember exactly what.

Unfortunately our experience of Frewen College is terrible.
Whilst the teachers are caring and kind enough many have now left which is hardly surprising given the lack of proper management which appears to create discord and stress amongst staff. This is a very disorganised, uncommunicative and poorly run facility and the management have become weak, complacent and disengaged. The governor's need to get to grips with this before it gets to a point of no return.
The school only survives financially by encouraging parents to apply and fight for EHCP funding and they have a member of staff (the vice principle) dedicated to helping parents with this. However, they are so focussed and distracted on the fight for EHCP funding that they have unfortunately forgotten the key principles of the advertised 'Frewen-Way' which has been diluted and lost.
This really is a failing school and anyone considering it should talk to as many past parents of recent years as possible and consider all other options before signing up.
We are not happy to write such a review but really want to warn others as education for our children is just so crucial and there is only one chance.

This school is amazing! Ignore the negatives that one disgruntled parent is posting. My son moved there in sept 22 and is thriving. They know my child inside out and go above and beyond to sort out support. The teaching teams are amazing. We started off as private funding and are now local authority funded due to EHCP appeal. I now have a happy and thriving child!!
