facial features and aspergers syndrome

According to Mumsnet news scientists can now use a child's facial features to help to diagnose AS. So does anyone know what these features are?

Hmm,I have never noticed this in years of work with people with AS.
You can spot someone with Williams Syndrome straightaway though.

My Ds has aspergers, though he has been DX with ASD, I cant say I have noticed anything about his facial features, what are they supposed to be?

apparently the scientist who did the research is angry at the way it has been reported, according to a report on the BBC website

When I heard the report on the BBC radio news they mentioned Williams Syndrome but didn't mention ASD

Do you think that someone saw yje information on Fragile X and extrapolated that to all children with ASD?

could they possibly be confusing ASD with fragile X in the report? will now actually read the report though, which might help me make an informed comment

I thought the initail report on the BBC mentioned ASD in the titel, I assume they've corrected themselves because I can't find it now

"In work soon to be published, Professor Hammond has also used the software to examine the facial characteristics of people with autism spectrum disorder and has identified unusual facial asymmetry in children with the condition.

These children are more likely to have a slight protrusion of the right temple, possibly reflecting a larger area of the brain known as the right frontal pole. "

Not something that came up on DS's recent assessment...
