Hi everyone!
I'd be really grateful to hear from anyone with experience in getting West Sussex to assess for an EHCP. My DS (aged 9) changed school just before the Feb half term - I changed school because the last one was not supportive of his needs (ASD).
The new school are supportive and agree that he should have an EHCP not least because he will rapidly sink in secondary if he is plonked in a 30+ children size class. But they say that West Sussex routinely refuse to assess if a school has not spent £6,000 on support, and they refuse to take account of SendCo time as part of this.
It's not legal, it's not right, and I would appeal - but I'd love to know how other peeps have approached this and what happened next?
