Hallo

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a really good SEN lawyer or direct access barrister in Sussex or London. We are in Brighton. My son has been offered a place at a special school, has significant SEN and the LA are faffing about. Probably will need to go to tribunal. Phoned local law firm who wanted 1k before even talking to me!
I am a solicitor myself but this is not my area so I'm looking for a fierce lawyer who can apply immediate pressure and try to get this resolved as quickly as possible as my child falls behind an extra year each year he is in mainstream.

many thanks for any tips!

Fierceness is not necessarily the way to go in this area. Other issues apart, the SEN Tribunal hates it.

You could try Simpson Millar or Sinclairs, or for barristers people like David Lawson or David Wolfe, or other people in Matrix Chambers. But none of them will be cheap. Fiona Slomovic is an advocate who is cheaper but very effective.

Thank you for this.
Yes, I suppose fierce in that they actually care!
Great stuff, will have a look at these. Thank you.

Really interesting re using an advocate - thanks in particular for that, didn't know that sort of service existed.

Hi plmBrighton
Please could you update how you got on? We are in a similar position- offered a place at a special school and we need to prepare for tribunal, although we are in London. Thanks in advance!
