How to get dc in a private sen school

Had to pick dc up from school again today. Done an early review of his ehcp today as well. It's pretty clear that he can't stay in the school he's in, because his needs are so complex the only school that meets his needs is a private school.
How do I get this funded? Have called parent voice for help but they have referred us to support4send and it can take up to a week for a call back from them.
Feeling lost and don't know how to go about any of this. Any help?

You have to prove why a state school provision or state Sen school cannot meet his needs and how the private school can meet those needs.

The local authority must write to you within four weeks of the annual review to tell you whether they are going to amend the EHCP. If they refuse, you will have a right of appeal. If they amend and you do not agree with the amendments, again you will have a right of appeal.

To get your child into a special school you will need to demonstrate that the current school, and/or any other school the LA may nominate cannot meet your child's needs. Ideally that means having provision in Section F of the Plan that the school you prefer is able to deliver, but that they other schools can't.

That type of provision will only be put in section F if there is professional evidence that shows it is necessary. It is likely that you will need to get independent reports from experts with experience in tribunal work, because it's likely that the LA will resist a private school placement and you will need to appeal. Good experts get booked up so you probably need to start looking now. Charities like SOS SEN may be able to give you the names of some suitable experts - likewise if you have identified a suitable school they may be able to give you some names.

dear OP apologies for jumping in on your post ....I hope you got the funding for the sen school?
Hi Miscible
We have s similar situation but following no response for months on the annual review we called an interim review. There is a state sen school but at present it doesn’t look like they will name it possibly because it covers broad MLD whereas or DC has SCLN. Word of mouth is that they will increase provision in DC mainstream.
We are 5 weeks on from the interim review with no response- i note you said they should reply within 4 weeks but what rights does it give us if they fail the timeline? And can they refuse to change the name of the provision even where both school & parents have requested the change?
Thanks in advance!
