Dyslexia support at secondary schools Scotland

Hi, does anyone have advice on choosing a state school for severely dyslexic DD in Edinburgh? Are some schools better at supporting dyslexia than others? DD is going into P6 this year, I want to know if we should be looking at options other than her catchment school or is it just accepted that she go to her catchment and we hope the learning support is good? She has no other ASN needs, but cannot read and is unlikely to be reading at any level without 1:1 support by S1. What help is she entitled to and what should we be looking for in a secondary school? Does anyone have any advice on transitioning to secondary under the Scottish state system?

I am in the same situation as you. Ds is going into P6 this year. He has Dyslexia and Dysgraphia.

My plan is to ask if I can visit the catchment school and also go to visit another to try get a feel for how different the schools can be with their support.

I is very worrying isn't it? I can't imagine how ds will cope at high school.

Have you posted this in Scotsnet? Maybe you will get some advice there.

Thanks Strawberrymelon - frankly it terrifies me! We’ve just been to visit a school and thought it might be ok (but not catchment so might not get a place), now need something to compare. Wasn’t aware of scotsnet so will take a look
