Asd and the fight with school

Hi...
I'm really struggling with my 13 yr old ds. He has diagnosed asd, spd anaixty and some other quirks 😁 he is currently at home as we cannot get him to school due to many issues... mainly school being unsupporttive and the senco refusing to correspond with me! At present he has absolutely no support in school and I have been informed he is not entitled to an ehcp by his head of yr. Can anyone help on where I stand? I know I can apply myself but worried school will fight against me (It's a highly academic sch and I'm sure they are hoping I'll remove my son) xc

Hi
How long has the school refusal been an issue? Is it a short or long term issue? What support have school put in place? Bear in mind that support is a plan of how to deal with the difficulties, not necessarily a Teaching Assistant. Eg reduced timetable, breakout space when things get too much in a lesson, key adult to talk to.

Do the school accept that he just cannot get into school or do they assume it's a case of refusing? The school is bound by law to provide some sort of tuition if he cannot get into school.

Hi there, I've had similar issues with my son who is the same age (but is not diagnosed), my son's school has been very hard work. There is a really informative FB group called Support for school refusal...there are many many people in the same situation and lots of info... I'd definitely recommend joining and asking for advice.
