Aspergers and puberty/sex Ed

My 11yr old son was diagnosed with Aspergers last year.
He has currently started doing sex Ed at school. I've always been very open with him and I hope we have never made it a taboo subject. However he really doesn't want to talk to me about what he's learning at school - so this may be perfectly normal boy behaviour but tonight when I tried to talk about it again: asking what he was learning and whether he wanted to talk about anything I could sense this real anxiety and almost fear and he just wanted to give me a hug. I just wondered whether this reaction may be related to his aspie traits and what I can do to help him?
If anyone has any experience of this I would appreciate some wise words.
