I am hoping that some of you lovely people with experience of SE in adults might be able to help me with some ideas. My brother is 35 and my family and I believe he has undiagnosed ASD type issues. He is reasonably intelligent but has zero social skills. He has tried University twice (IT, web design type courses) but dropped out before getting his degree both times. He has had several jobs (car park attendant, shop assistant, newspaper seller, bookies cashier) but generally lasts a very short time. He did live away from home for a few years in shared houses but has twice been caught out by family lying about the fact he was working when in fact he had lost his job months earlier. On these occasions he didn't think to apply for any benefits he might be entitled to and by the time family found out had no money and was living in squalor.
He is now living with my mother who I think has finally accepted the fact that he is unlikely to find employment and that she needs to start thinking about his future. He is now claiming JSA but I really can't see anyone employing him. My mother asked me to have a think about whether I could think of any businesses (either online or otherwise) that she could set up so that he could make some money / have something to keep him occupied. He doesn't drive and it is unlikely that he will be able to get his driving test so anything that requires driving is out. So do any of you have any ideas for businesses which don't involve social interaction but which could provide someone with a purpose to their days and provide at least a minimum wage type income? My mum could afford to put some capital into a business idea if she needed to.
