SEN Provision Private Schools Tunbridge Wells Area

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of SEN provision in the private school sector in the Tunbridge Wells area.
I have 2 children with various SEN needs. My gut feeling is they would both benefit from the smaller class sizes in the private system. I am however concerned that some private schools may not be able to accommodate them and that they themselves may not be able to achieve the level of education expected.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

The only child I know at private school with SEN (so appreciate my knowledge in the private sector is small!) received very little in the way of support for him. The parents ended up having to pay the salary of a 1:1 TA to be with full time as the school wouldn't provide support. It was shocking but I'm hoping not all private schools are this bad!!

There are private SEN/ASC schools in the Kent area which would cater more for your dc.

We're not in Kent, but East Sussex. Looking for DS1 (10) to go to a local private school from September. They want him to have a 1to1 INA at our expense, on top of fees. Currently quoting £1000 a week!

Unless theres a 'hidden gem' out there I would say the above is fairly representative for most things other than mild dyslexia (from experience at primary level). Things do seem to be improving in provision generally though.

what kind of difficulties are we talking? Have you looked at Northease? We moved our son at year three to a more specialist environment as the private school he was in were wanting us to pay for a full time TA plus SALT on top of the fees. We ended up applying for an EHCP. He is fully funded now, which is just as well because his package equates to £50k a year, which we could never afford!!!!!!

Hi, I know this is a very old post but I’m wondering just the same as your original question. Where did you end up sending you children and do you have any good insights you might be able to give me as we’re in a similar situation? Essentially looking for a private prep with small class sizes and good individual support. Our daughter has ni diagnosed SEN but her current school in London has to give her her a lot of 1-2-1 support. She gets distracted very easily, has difficulties to focus and engage. We’ve recently been recommended to assess her for add / adhd.
