I've been told by school that ds can use a netbook or laptop in lessons and also at home and then later in his exams, if we start doing it now.

I had no idea we could do this and am so happy - his writing is awful and he is dyslexic and dyspraxic so I think this will boost him no end.

I don't know what to get though. I know he wants a gaming laptop but that requires quite high spec I think and not sure it's appropriate!

School said we just need word and maybe powerpoint - very basic, lightweight and so on.

Is there a good one to get? Which brands are good? Thank you for any recommendations, I really have no idea Smile

Bumping you for other people to help, personally I would say no to a netbook as some have smaller non standard key boards which may not be beneficial to a dyspraxic child

You could try re posting over on the special needs board for more traffic as many of our children require the same adaptions. DD uses a standard laptop on a slope for hypermobility

Chromebook?

They all come with lots of educational technology included for free, courtesy of the US federal government.

Another for chromebook.
Ds is 11 and dyslexic. I will be so happy if school suggest this. Anyway he has a chrome book and it's invaluable for homework lightweight and easy to use. It doesn't have any gaming spec which is probably an advantage for schoolwork!
I've also done a 5000 word essay on it and it was lovely to use.
