Just had the appointment confirmation letter. DS is statemented in an Autism unit but in yr6 of a primary school.

He's hopefully moving to a secondary through to 18 school with an Autism unit in yr 7.

As part of his annual review and transfer review we're aparently moving him to an EHC plan.

I don't know what I need to know. I don't know what I need it to say for DS. What about this support lasting through to 25 business? Do I need to get any special wording in now to make sure that his hard fought for support isn't slowly ebbed away.

If you've read anything about EHC Plans or have any input or things to think about with this I'd really appreciate a sounding board to try and get it as good as it can be.

Thank you

First off, you'll get more responses on the Special Needs Children board further down the main Topics page.

Secondly, there's a lot of information on the IPSEA and SOS SEN websites.

You do need to think about the outcomes section, so that it includes long term outcomes about where you want DS to be at 16, 18 and 25. The EHC Plan will only continue beyond the age of 16 if outcomes haven't been achieved. However, I wouldn't worry about it too much, because the reality is that the situation will change and you can ask about changes at annual reviews.
