I suppose I should post this under Bloggers but thought those interested in Education and SEN would be active in this topic board:

The authors are both primary school teachers and soon to be published authors. Feel free to follow them on twitter @though_weavers

I liked the poem, that was lovely. But the 'day in the life...' just left me a bit bemused tbh

Why did all the SEN kids have single mothers for instance ?

hmmm bit of a typical generalisation - 'SEN kid'.... his dad is a manual worker as 'SEN kids' are good at hands on jobs etc
I'm also wondering about the single parent bit...

I believe the irony of the blog is just that isn't it? These things being "typical" or "assumed" by others eg the little girl saying 'if I dont know, he won't either", implying sn children are 'thick' or 'stupid' (which is far from accurate).

I know my DP (one half of Thought Weavers) and his friend are passionate about learning and every child having the same opportunities within a learning environment.

I strongly suggest you tweet them or comment on their blog. Perhaps they will expand further about the single parent generalisation.

well there were a lot of points that I thought were spot on 'Reluctant this? Reluctant that' for instance and only being allowed to say the welcome in the assembly.
