Anyone got any tips on how to get ds who has AS to focus on anything other than his 'special interests'

Ds is nearly 6 and can concentrate beautifully on anything to do with Lego, Harry Potter or Star Wars. He will also read for long focused periods of time. In school however they can't get him to focus on a task for more than 5 mins and even that long takes adult support, praise etc
Any ideas what we could do at home to help him focus on stuff he finds less interesting for increasing periods of time?

I have the same issue with ds. I'd be interested to see if anyone suggests anything!

I know they struggle with ds' attention at school. At home I suppose I try and involve his current obsession in whatever we are doing. Eg. lego figures brushing their teeth at the same time as ds....however we are stuck on jigsaw puzzles at the moment so this is proving difficult!
