@Srju apart from being brown, what did he achieve that was for the benefit of the country? I'm a civil service worker married to nhs worker. His party has utterly wrecked the safety and health services in this country.

I think as Chancellor he really excelled and kept the economy afloat during COVID.

As PM I wish he did more, but always thought Suank was honourable and wanted the best for the country. He halved inflation, left us at the fastest growing economy in the G7. He also delivered the Northern Ireland deal as well.

Nope, because he massively screwed over loads of self employed/small business owners due to the way he excluded 3 million of them from covid support schemes!

What would've been the alternative to furlough? Millions of people suddenly unemployed and trying to claim Universal Credit? The government would've been paying out in benefits anyway

Not to all those who weren’t eligible for uc due to having savings or a high earning partner. After all lots of those excluded were also excluded from uc because of a partner earning or on furlough or having savings! He gave away huge sums of money to people who didn’t need it and fraudsters yet still managed to exclude huge numbers of freelancers and self employed many of whom lost their savings, some lost their businesses and homes. It was an absolute foul up and he lied about it in Parliament!

By the time he got to become PM, I would assume most people were past caring who it was. They just wanted the diabolical Tories out.
Sadly, their replacement has not been much better thus far IMHO.
