Invited to Diwali event, anything I should know?

I've only recently heard of this holiday and been invited to a Diwali event, as a Jewish woman I was wondering if there's anything I should or shouldn't do? I don't want to unknowingly offend! I'm also very sheltered!

Not really, it’s a happy/festive occasion so maybe dress in bright colours

What is it - a meal, a party?

As PP said, wear bright colors, as its a festive occasion. if you are visiting a friends home for the event you could take a small gift of a candle (you don't have to do this though).
If prayer will be said at the event or it is at a temple or gurdwara take a scarf in as you need to cover your hair.
