Menopause worries

LemongrassLollipop · 24/08/2022 00:02

Feel bombarded with articles on the menopause. Seems to be all over social media including more business type forums eg LinkedIn.

It's really stressing me out. I don't think I am quite there although have noticed changes in some of my periods - lighter and shorter.

As a 44 year old woman, about a stone (and a bit) overweight, sedentary job with very little exercise and 2 young kids, what sorts of things should I be doing/thinking about? Does my Indian heritage factor in this... any issues that need adding? Worried type 2 diabetes may come into play... My diet is carb heavy. Blimey, written down that sounds fully depressing.

Planning on increasing activity levels and getting more sleep once summer holidays are over.

Any advice?

all over the media AND yet the HRT fans because all they care about ultimately is HRT they insist it's "taboo", "no one tells you about this", "women's issues are so neglected", "very important that we talk about this", "so swept under the carpet" etc. How great is it that Google / the social networks (including MN) have spotted a money-making opportunity in you & me. Woohoo. #irony

As for actual what to do health advice: I believe that all the conventional healthy lifestyle & healthy aging advice stands up well.

Hrt can really help with mental health but some friends swear by ashwanga St Johns Wort and black cohosh. Exercise regularly even walking helps massively too. Try the herbals, if they don't work go for hrt.

My mum refused to even mention menopause to me, it is still taboo in the community, luckily not with my friends!
