Moving to Bury

Help! We are considering moving from the Midlands to Bury (Whitefield/Radcliffe are in the running). We want a quieter life from our current environment and I know every area has good and bad but generally what is Bury like? We are a South Asian family who are happy to integrate but really need to avoid areas where we will be made to feel unwelcome. Any advice x

I think it’s pretty diverse but I’m White British so not really your target for a response.

Just wanted to say that Bury has the best market in the uk.

@UrsulaP

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it. How do you find living in Bury...does it feel safe generally?

Sorry I don’t live there but did work there for several years.

Felt perfectly safe. But then I’ve never felt unsafe anywhere in the UK.

Don't live there but have family that do and many Asian families live there so you definitely won't be the only brown face. I'd say fairly safe, it's quite good for shopping and has good transport links for getting in to Manchester. I used to work in Bury and commute from South Manchester getting the tram in. I always felt safe, never had any issues.
