my youngest has been in the system for a number of years, suspected ASD.
recently my oldest has been flagged up at school for sensory issues so is also being assessed.
now I’m starting the think my mental health issues may be something more.
I know ASD and similar can run in genetics, so if both of my children have it, could I?
I contacted my GP about this & he stated that my area doesn’t assess adults anymore… but if I was to go via the mental health team they would consider these assessments along with others. But as my mental health isn’t ‘severe enough’ he won’t refer me on to the mental health team as it’s manageable by GP…
is there any way around this? Is a private assessment worth it?
im not entirely sure what difference a diagnosis will make (if there is one) it would just be nice to have all the information.
