I'm really struggling.
My LO has had 3 assessments done within school by a Send supported organisation and the educational psychologist. This is due to him having concentration issues, memory issues, being easily distracted and fidgeting. He is an incredibly bright boy but we have now come to a stand still as he is producing little to no work and although he understands what to do, getting him to put it to paper or finish work is near impossible.
His last visit was in May which was by the educational psychologist and she did say on her report that a referral to the neurodevelopmental service would be advisable but the school haven't done this as of yet. In fact they asked me to take him to the doctors and ask them for help. This was a waste of time as the doctor said the school need to do referrals.
I feel like I'm not getting anywhere and the school have said they can't have another appointment any time soon as they are only allowed a certain amount of appointments a term.
I have thought for a while now that he may have ADHD. Both of my brothers have this and I see many similarities between them and my LO.
Has anyone been through something similar? Any suggestions on what to do next? All I want is for him to be able to reach his full potential, whatever that is, but im completely at a loss.
