I do realise that many of you here may have worse problems so sorry if I seem like I'm a right worrier but I'm really worried about dd who turned 3 a few weeks ago.
A dr noticed when she was a few months old that the whites of her eyes were blue (scelera). He said to take her to my gp as it could be something like ehers danlos but gp said let's watch and wait and see as she was weeks old. She said she would worry more if it was still like that when she turned 3 which she has now.
Eyes still very blue. Development very slow. She's always done everything very late but she was early born so I'm not sure if it was that.
Nursery have noticed her physical development is very slow. She walks like a baby just learning to walk and only very short distances and she holds her left hand up close by her armpit while she walks.
I wasn't so worried and thought it would just be due to her being a little early but this week I took her to the optician who told us she's got a cataract and needs surgery in her right eye. Then on a day trip the same week watching her I noticed her development on her right side is absolutely fine, but her left side is weak and behind and puts her off balance and slows her down. She drags her left leg and holds her left arm funny although she seems to preference her left hand for holding things or with a pen.
It worries me that there is a clear left side divide with her movement and muscle tone. And that the oppisite side to her good side she has a cataract.
I don't know what is causing all this but I'm so worried now. The gp has referred us for paediatrics and ophthalmology but the soonest appointment is September and I can't wait that long, it's worrying me so much. I realise we may have to but I just want someone to look her over. Can anybody give us any advice to what this might be or where we could go for advice or what we could do to go privately? Thanks
