Mat leave coming to an end and wanting to start a little business. Can any Etsy sellers give me hope that it’s a lucrative business and good site to use?

TIA

I would guess it depends on what your product is? Every time I look at it, a thousand different options for the same type of thing pop up, so I would have thought you’d need to sell something pretty special or unique to make decent money…

I don't know how lucrative it can be full time as I just sell on the side as I work part time but I was surprised by how much I can sell considering how many sellers there are on there. The fees are very high where Ebay and Vinted are free to sell. You also have to have a UTR number for tax purposes before you can sell. It costs me £6.34 fee if I sell something for £20. But if it is sold through off site adds you pay extra fees on top.

Fees are incredibly high. I run an Etsy shop, if you need to replace a full time salary that isn't instant. I make 1000 a month profit, I would say, but it's taken a year to get there and I do put easily 40-50 hours work week in.

Also full of AI shit now, was much better when I first used in 10 years ago!

13 years on Etsy and it is the worst it has ever been right now. I wouldn't recommend anyone goes into a handmade business at the moment.
