If you were (in theory)to join a member’s club with a physical location and events in your nearest closest town, what would be your expectations, (assuming it would be “your kind of thing” to join - if not, no need to answer!) ;) - in terms of:
*physical clubhouse premises

  • all day food and beverage offerings *importance of spa and gym
  • community / member events
  • intellectual content / networking
  • any other requirements

Think more SoHo house than a village institute but maybe borrowing the positive elements of both.

Thank you - this means A LOT. Please be kind as I get on my feet again

Best wishes to you & sincere thanks for answering

The hospitality offering would have to be a bit special.

I don't think SoHo has ever really made money. The challenge is getting enough people in and spending, without it feeling "busy".

The venue would have to appear special too - difficult without spending £m on buildings I suppose.

Networking is tricky - many clubs have rules preventing overt "work" talk.

DW is a member of a popular tennis club. I expect a lot of contacts are made there, as an "aside" to the usual activity.

Thank you - I think that the tennis club example is very on point.
