How to generate leads?

Hi all :)

Long story short, my work have side lined me after maternity leave :/

I have tried to take the lemons and make lemonade, so to speak, and have set up my own businesses offering mortgage and protection advice. However, something I am struggling with is finding clients.

Does anyone have any experience in finding leads? What worked well and what went badly?

Thanks in advance :)

Can you speak to local estate agents and offer a referral incentive (fee or vouchers for the team). Independents will be better than corporates as less likely to have in house. I’d try very hard to partner up with some of the self employed agents in your area under the eXP and Keller Williams brands, they will also be looking to source leads and you could become a good source for each other.

Apart from that, networking and social media. Networking is a slog but if you find the right group and go religiously, make yourself talk to someone different every week and refer business wherever you can within the network it will pay off in the long run.

Social media I’d start doing short q&a videos about interest rates, how soon to look at a remortgage, what to do if you’re on SVR, have you got the right level of life insurance, how does critical illness cover work etc. Anything anyone has ever asked you, put it in a video! Share sporadically to local groups, don’t spam. Maybe a free advice drop in in a local coffee shop?

Ask all your friends to share your stuff, use social media to share that you’re now self employed and looking for people you can help.

Good luck! The hardest part is consistency, keep plugging away no matter how disheartened you might feel

Do you have any local business networking organisations? Business breakfasts. "Best of (town name)" etc? Also check out what your local council have in terms of business support and networking opportunities.
All the best!

I'm a broker too. Are you with a network?

If not, you can sign up to one and they will provide you with leads. If you go on LinkedIn, there are loads of SE roles that provide leads and some offer a basic salary for a couple of months.

Good luck!
