How do I start business research

I have a business idea and I've seen its recommended to start with doing business research. So, I'm not exactly how to go about with reaching out to potential customers. My idea is project kits for parents and kids to do together. I kniw there's other companies that do this, so I was going to look at what they do and such. I just wasn't sure about getting feedback from the customer base.

I probably did it wrong, but I had an idea and just did it 😅

If you want to do some market research I would just ask on here or Facebook. See what types of kits people would enjoy, what the price point would be, length of time to do etc. Maybe you could ask about age ranges...

It's a great idea though, you could do subscriptions, gift packages and all sorts. Perfect for seasonal.

I also make and sell kits and whilst it hasn't made enough to quit my job, it definitely helps out, especially at Christmas!

Could you create a kit or a cheap version of what it would be and trial it at a family fair over Easter or the summer?

You can then ask questions to both the children and parents to find out if it’s unique enough whilst collecting emails and detail of potential customers.

Also do a Google search to see what the competition/alternative being bought is.

My DDs love craft videos on you tube, I'd like to buy a kit for the frozen castle etc, as long as it's straightforward and not too fiddly.

Popular with many people: check the review section on Amazon from products similar to yours. See what they like about the product. Also, look at the 3-stars reviews to see what they're not happy about. Ideally your product would solve that.
