Does fortune fear the brave?

I have a business idea but want to run it by others to see if I’m nuts as I’ve never properly considered it before 😂

I don’t want to be to outing to past clients so will be somewhat vague.

I work in the area of regulatory compliance. I used to work in consultancy and know for a fact some big companies are non-compliant. I work for a big company now and we have some areas lacking.

I was looking at a household product the other day and noticed it was a big company and their product was non complaint. They used to be a client of mine and what I knew of them backs them up.

What i just went round shops looking it non complaint products and contacting them to sort it out? (For a consultancy fee!)

I know 9/10 may not get back to me but what about that 1?

My area is very nice hence the lack of compliance. So a part of me thinks they might appreciate it and admire the ballsyness?

please let me know your thoughts and if there’s anything I should consider.

I’d like to do it as a side hustle to my main job so would have to check my contract

Very niche* that should say, not ‘nice’

*"favour the brave"
*compliant, not complaint

Walking around shops seems an incredibly random way to spot whatever form of non-compliance you are offering to weed out.

Also, if non-compliance (with whatever) is an issue, major corporations clearly are not going to spend money sorting out compliance unless they absolutely have to.

Compulsion would involve lawsuits for massive damages or the intervention of a government or industry regulatory agency.

Absent either of these, what exactly would make a corporation spend the money necessary to rectify whatever problems you identify?
