Cost for VA to do SM?

Just wondering what the going rate might be to hire a VA or similar to do the dreaded online monthly newsletter and social media work I’m not disciplined enough to do!

The social media is FB & Insta and Linked in occasionally too.

I’m a freelancer in the SE not making all that much money though I could spare a little for someone reliable.

How much would be reasonable to budget for this? £150 a month? More? I’ve no idea. But I would like some more business from
SM so I guess I could try it for 6 months or so and see how it goes.

I’d be writing the content rather than the VA.

Social media are all pay-to-play platforms, which means that paying someone to do a few organic posts is unlikely to have much effect- they will only be shown to less than 5% of your page followers. Online advertising is now very expensive and probably way over budget for you.

When you say online newsletter- do you mean one that is sent to your own database of contacts? Or one that is published on your website and other platforms?

If the first - this is very valuable and worth investing in.

If the second, the same things above applies - there's little point in spending time or money on content that virtually nobody will see.

Have you looked at other ways of promoting your services?

Thanks lucking, so you mean web advertising is more beneficial than social media posts? I feel it’s just expected that businesses post on SM. If you don’t - are you even still going type thing… 5% doesn’t necessarily chime with my tally of likes - sometimes it’s quite a bit more. It varies a lot!

The online newsletter - this goes to my ongoing client base. This has worked quite well in the past.

I do offline promo, yes. All very hard to say precisely what combination works but certainly a mixture if the above has been successful (enough) so far, though not amazing.

Anybody else know about pricing? Thanks

It depends how many posts you would want a week, I'd say a standard VA rate would be around £30 per hour. If you have templates set up in Canva this would be quicker for them. Likewise if your newsletter is all set up as a template in your mail provider - save time

If you're the one creating the content you'd be better off setting aside an hour a week and using Hootsuite or something to schedule all your posts for the week/month ahead. I used someone like you describe and she just didn't understand my business the way i did. Check all your insights on whatever social media you want to focus on to work out when your followers are most active. Don't try and keep up with every social media network - my business was focused towards the older demographic so i used Facebook and Instagram the most.
