Any GDPR experts on mumsnet?

I am hoping a GDPR guru might be able to save me for paying for legal advice.

I want to send a contact at a company an email and ask them to forward it to other people within the organisation who might benefit from the email, without giving too much information away, as it is a start up business, the contents of the email would be relevant, and the email requests that it is forwarded 'to others who might be interested'.

I understand I can cold call email, business to business, but can I ask the original contact to forward it on to other potentially interested parties? The email will have all the necessary unsubscribe functions, privacy policies etc.

Just seen maybe it's a PECR expert I need, it's all so confusing.

I would presume as long as all the company details are kept in-house, then in theory no data breaches happen ?

So long as its not going to sole traders (who are treated as individuals not B2B under GDPR) then you should be okay

To be frank though, I receive emails like this that tell me to forward them to people who might be interested. I never ever forward them and wouldn't even if someone I knew sent them. This is probably not going to drum up business.

It's not a GDPR issue. You send the email to them, they forward it to their colleagues if they like (you won't be included in the trail), they contact you if they want to. You therefore don't have access to any personally identifiable information.

As PP says, it's unlikely to drum up much business.

Thanks so much for your replies. It's HSE related.

That's good news, I will market through other avenues too, I just needed to know if I could request to forward an email.
