Which learning management system for new online course?

Hi there

I am currently creating an online course for a niche industry.

There are lots of options for learning management systems but wanted to know if anyone could recommend one which they use or are very familiar with ?

what I need:

  • a mobile responsive course experience for my students
  • a flexible community for students and non students
  • course payment with instant access
  • bundle pricing
  • monthly subscriptions for the community
  • emails to students to keep engaged, reminder that their subscription is ending
  • a relatively straightforward course creation process with easy upload
  • decent insights and reports.
any recommendations welcome. At the moment I’m looking at Teachable and Thinkific.

There are loads out there. Mighty networks is popular and a good option. You can use it in conjunction with convertkit for landing pages to drive people to your courses. I use kajabi for coaching courses but it’s more expensive. You will also need a payment provider such as stripe or gocardless.

Learndash!
That's what I recommend to my clients.

Hi @whirlyhead i never saw that I had late responses to this post until now.

thanks for sharing this, I am about to sign with passion.io but kajabi has turned my head since I looked it up.

any cons to using at all? Do you have an app?

@GrimDamnFanjo thanks for sharing. I don’t have a workspress site so it’s not going to work for me. I had not heard of it, thank you for sharing.

Sorry, I only just saw your message! I find kajabi great and they are very helpful. It has a lot of functionality and integrates well with stripe for payments. The only downside is it isn’t cheap - starts at about $200 a month. But you get what you pay for!

There is an app, you can learn to do landing pages etc though there is a bit of a learning curve. I paid someone to build my site then a course and some landing pages, then I copied what they did for other landing pages and courses. Kajabi is more widely used in America but I believe it’s the leading platform for courses.

I looked at passion recently but I prefer kajabi.

Hey, no worries, thanks for coming back.
I tried Kajabi and tried to get a developer to build the landing pages for me, but then realised I had limited control myself. So I went back to Passion. I now have an app on both app stores which I am still having a pinch me moment over. I got a special offer for £70 per month, so it’s a steal!
they are still new but updating the functionality all the time.

A total learning curve indeed, and I work in IT (not development)!
