How do you make money through a blog?

Hi, long story short I had a blog a few years ago and it did quite well but I didn't make a penny out of it. I'd really like to do another one but this time make it my full-time job, if I could just bring in enough to support my household. So does anyone have experience of making money through a blog? How do you do it please, is it mainly through the social media side?

You do it through adsense although these days not really enough traffic for blogs for this kind of thing. Social media is a better bet. Or if you can use the blog/SM page to drive traffic to a business e.g. consultation services or selling short guides via the blog. If it's more of a life story/experience/funny cartoons/recipes kind of thing then you can make money by self publishing a book on the topic and using your blog/SM to drive sales of this. But I would imagine it's hard to make a full time income this way.
