Self employed- not exactly living the dream?

I've just started doing some care work with an agency as a self employed worker. I sm possibly a bit naive but , is it normal to have to do a lot of admin/prep/general faffing around outside of the time you're paid for as a self employed person?
I'm finding that salaried people are not very respectful of time/boundaries re people paid by the hour. Anyone else? Any top tips? Thanks

Yes, your hourly rate should be higher to reflect this. If it’s not you are being taken advantage of.

Yes! Make sure you charge plenty to cover this :-). It's a right faff.

The admin and paperwork are one of the shit bits of being self employed, They dont seem to get you anywhere and you dont get paid for them but they have to be done. They are the bones of your business.
