I have a very small ltd co (ie I am the director and only employee). I'm looking to close it ASAP - I put very little work through the company as I'm now also employed.
I had a letter from the ICO which I gather is part of a big push to get companies to sign up (and pay) to be registered to comply with data protection requirements. While I obviously accept I might need to do this, and don't want to do anything wrong in this regard, I'm genuinely struggling to determine whether I do need to register.
I've been through their online checklist and would class myself as a data processor rather than controller, given that the information I hold is literally only the contact details of my (very few) long-standing clients, which I need for invoicing them, and which isn't passed to anyone else...but I'm finding the guidance on the site incredibly opaque.
Has anyone dealt with this and if so, do you have any advice?
