Starting a Fudge Business

I'm looking to set up a business making an selling fudge on the side as it's something I really enjoy making and friends and family have commented on how good the fudge is. Does anyone have any tips/advice about getting started?

I've looked at registering with the local authority and looked into insurance, please let me know if I'm missing anything.

It's just in the idea phase at the moment so I really value opinions. It seems really daunting.

How and where will you sell? Do you know about the consumer contract regulations? You need opinions from people who don't know you, never ever start up a business because your friends and family tell you that you should. They are supposed to be nice to you. Have you worked out your costings? Can you actually make a profit? Have you got a food hygiene certificate? What will set you apart from all the other people doing the exact same thing?
There's more to consider than just insurance and council registration.

I guess you have checked the gov site, they have a bit on it.

Could you reach out to someone doing something similar but not in direct competition and ask their advice?

Insurance is a must (allergies, etc) and you have that covered. A good name, the order to unpacking experience for the client (how do they order, how do you pack, etc).

I think there are some freelancer association you can join through your local chamber of commerce / business link.

Natwest have this basic guide for general points to consider - maybe worth asking your bank if they have any free advice scheme.
