So for a while now me and my sister have thought about starting our own business.

We are thinking about bouncy castle hire and mascot hiring! I just wanted to hear from fellow mums about what they would like from a service like this? Which mascots? Typed of castles? Anything extra?

We are considering doing a full party package which includes table clothes, balloons etc but we don't want to bite off more than we can chew just now! Thank you Grin

In my area there's definitely a market for this (pre corona virus obviously ), lots of kids parties consist of a church/community hall with a bouncy castle, glitter tattoo, candy floss, dj etc. I went to one where an 'Elsa' went down a storm with the kids. I looked into it as a potential business myself, (lego, science, wizard, sleep over, teepee parties etc)but decided that the setting up costs would be quite high, a few established djs are already popular and I just didn't want to work pretty much every Saturday and most Sundays!

Do,your research. Look at local businesses in your area, to get an idea of the going rates. Maybe randomly google similar business in other areas to see what they offer as well.

For a mascot, I would choose a neutral theme, as Disney characters etc will gain a nd loose popularity. Also, a lion, tiger, duck etc will, appeal,to boys and girls, unlike a princess. Also, maybe you can theme your business around the mascot.

Ie. Cloudy Tiger Cat Castles

I think the simplest thing to do is probably face-painting, although I am not sure how this will fare since the virus?

There are a few threads on here about it. Take a course, invest in some kit and buy insurance.
