Hi I am going to order one, but can't decide which is the best option.

Well it depends - I think that both would probably suit different people. I prefer the Patapum, because I am useless at tying slings while holding DS' weight at the same time, and so being able to adjust it before I put it on is important for me. I would guess this also makes it slightly quicker to use. I know some people say that SSCs like the patapum are difficult/a pain to put on over coats etc and I have found this, but being able to adjust it beforehand is still a bigger factor for me.

You don't say what age your baby is - the Patapum comes in two sizes, so if your baby is much under 9 months you would really want the smaller size, but then it is not as supportive as the toddler one. If you buy the toddler one, you won't be able to use it for any new babies (if you are planning on more) until they are older. The R&R will do newborn to older toddler.

And purely vainly, the R&R carriers are much prettier but on the flipside, they are more expensive.

I haven't tried a R&R carrier specifically but I would guess that they are similar in terms of support and comfort to each other.

Thanks BertieBotts, I think I will order a R&R carrier.

Hi, see that you have made a decision, but would have gone for R&R too.
Have you been on natural mamas forum - loads of advice on there and you can buy 2nd hand too.

Have had a toddler patapum, they work fine, but we did find it a bit low on the back after a while. Think a R&R might last you a little longer..

Thanks Jengirl, I did try and find a R&R second hand but haven't been lucky enough to find one. My dh also said that as it will hopefully last me a while that he is happy for me to order a new one. I can always sell it on in the future and hopefully get some of the money back that I paid on it.

Looks like you're going for the R&R - I agree this is probably the better (if more expensive choice).
Although the patapum really is an excellent carrier, the shoulder straps are incredibly well padded and set fairly wide apart which means that they were wider than my shoulders and gave me a bit of a shoulder-pad/sue-ellen look. Just something to bear in mind

Hi I got my R&R and think that its great. Suits my body shape well as I am petite. Just a nuisance when dh has to change the straps and waist to suit him, as I get it fitting nicely and then have to alter for him. It was a bit pricey, but they do sell second hand quite well, so think I will get my money back when I resell. Thanks for the advice MNs
