Beco or Ergo carrier for newborn?

I'm due at the beginning of June (1st baby)and keen to get a SSC suitable for a newborn. Pretty much narrowed it down to the Ergo or Beco carriers and just wondered if anyone had some advice?

I've had back problems in the past and comfort definately the most important aspect!

Thanks

i'd say get along to a sling meet if you can and chat to the mums there

i know a lot of mums who love the soft wraps for the first few months, like Kari Me, and then some move on to stronger wraps or an Ergo or Mei Tai for back carries

also, the childrens centre near me has just bought 11 different slings (soft wrap, strong wrap, ring slings and mei tais) to go in the toy library so parents can rent them for a month at a time...not something all the CC"s do but could be worth a call. also some LLL groups have sling libraries too and quite a few LLL mums are also sling mums so could contact your local leader and see who she can put you in touch with or go to a meeting when you're pregnant, you'd be very welcome!

Although Beco and Ergo make excellent carriers, personally I don't find they really come into their own until your baby is a bit older.
I agree with pps - for a newborn a stretchy wrap is ideal. If you don't like the acres of material, perhaps a buckle tai like the connecta would suit you better?
