Do I need to keep my "clicky hip" baby out of his sling?

I bought a lovely Storcenwiege sling for my bub, who is nearly 2 wks old, now. But I haven't used it yet, because when the paediatrician did his assessment before leaving hospital, she said she felt a slight click in one of his hips which would need to be scanned to rule out any real problems. She said it was "probably nothing, just like when you crack a knuckle" but he'd get a scan appointment in the next few weeks. Do I need to keep him out of his sling until after this is checked out, or would carrying him in the sling not affect this? If I can use the sling, are there any positions I should avoid putting him in? Thanks.

My DD went into a harness after being diagnosed with hip displasia at scan.

Up to that point, I had used sling. Consultant said fine to carry on using if baby comfortable in it now harness is on.

Consultant did mention that babies hips do better if their legs are kept apart, like a frog.

I am not sure what your sling looks like or what positions it uses.

I hope all is well and you don't need harness to correct clicks.

Avoid any position with his legs apart. You can put him laying in the sling, or upright but with his legs folded up and his bottom supported.

No baby should have their legs separated in a sling until they are at least 3 or 4 months old.

I'm now not sure if my advice is right.

Look for images of parvik harness on line then you can see the position used to correct the hips - Then you can decide for the best.

Hey Loopymumsy, thanks for that. You lost me a bit with your acronyms, though! What is OP, FWCC and IIRC? Thanks! (Thanks for reminding me to check where his hip appointment has gotten too, as well!)

DD was in pavlik harness from birth for 4 months. Physio advised us against the ring sling we had previously been using to avoid her lying on the affected side.
They did recommend carrying DD upright, obviously for your LO's age you will need something adequately supportive for his head.
Advice above about using wrap correctly is good, so you don't need to reinvest in another carrier, though worth checking out different wrapping positions online.
Check out 'sling guide' or 'natural mamas' website for more advice.
