Limited movement in hands - ideas for easy to use sling?

I have Parkinsons and am expecting DC2 soon - any ideas for a sling I can use from birth that is easy to put on? My hands don't work as well as they should so faffing around with complicated straps and/or rings is not an option - are ther any go 'clip and go' options? Thanks!

Hi,I have a connecta integra which is fairly 'clip and go'.
I don't have hand problems as such, but I do have very weak hands and don't have any problems with it.
If there is a slingmeet near you, you could go and try some out to see how you get on.

oh yes, the babyhawk ohsnap is beautiful.

Mei tais involve tying two simple knots with straps that are like wide apron strings - this would probably be easier for you than knotting the full width of a wrap (but may still be not ideal).
Or there are soft structured carriers (SSCs) like the ones mentioned above, which are much like mei tais but with buckle fastenings instead of knots.
Or, if one-shoulder carries are a possibility for you, try a pouch sling?
Getting along to a sling meet would help I'm sure, and have a look at www.slingguide.co.uk for ideas

I think I'd start with a pouch sling as they are cheap and v easy (but you have to get just the right size), and then see if you can find some people with slings so you can try them out.

I have weak hands due to previous arthritis, and do find that some of the clips are really hard to undo if you have poor grip, wheras tieing my meitai is no problem at all. Equally a ring sling is pretty easy for me to adjust as you pull a big chunk of fabric, rather than making little adjustments

thanks everyone - i have never heard of slingmeets before but they sound like a good idea - try before you buy probably the best as I have no idea what I'll be able to cope with - knots are a bit tricky but yanking a big bit of fabric sounds doable - thanks

As someone with RSI (weak hands), I find that some clip and go options are better than others (some have stiffer or more fiddley buckles than others). Personally I found Connectas hard to manage for this reason, but have never heard of anyone else having trouble with them (perhaps it's because the ones I tried were very nearly new).

I guess I'm saying that if you find one type tricky, don't be put off before trying others - and it may even be possible to get the buckles changed.

I have a great sling for round the house called a 'Slingalong', my MIL brought it back from Australia. It is basically a ring sling with a clip / buckle instead of a ring. I never need to use the buckle though, just put it on and take it off over my head, so something similar might work well for you?

Or there are several patterns online for simple pouch slings if you had trouble finding one the perfect size in the shops?
