BabyBjorn Slings - okay for a newborn?

The Mothercare catalogue says that BabyBjorn slings are okay from 8lb [which is often the weight of a newborn], and that they can be used for newborns when the head support is up and they are facing in to you. But they don't specifically say they are suitable from birth - does anyone know if they are? I got on pretty well with our BabyBjorn with DC1 and am hoping to use it again without the need to buy another sling...

Thanks

I'm surprised about the anti BB comments here simply because I absolutely LOVED mine (I had the one with extra back support) and so did all 3 babies. I used it all the time with all 3 of mine when tiny (from about 1 week until 6 months). From around 5 or 6 months I preferred to use a hip sling so swapped to that but I still think that the BB was fabulous.

I had one when they were the new thing back in the day, was given a wilkinet as well, but that seemed a bit lentilweaver to me at the time and besides all the yummies were using bb's.

Hardly used it, it wasn't comfy and she always looked a bit slumped. With dc2 used the wilkinet when she was teeny. It was brilliant. When she outgrew that I got an ergo. Agree that there are much better slings out there.
