Hi,

We are currently carrying our little man around in a Baby Bjorn but as people on here have said - it absolutely kills my / our backs! And the little man is getting less and less happy in it. We were planning on upgrading to the ergo but recently have seen larger baby Bjorn's and other carriers, and wanted to know what people thought re them. We do have a friend that swears by the Ergo - so its a good vote of confidence.

The main people wearing it is dad who is of a broad, muscular, fit, athletic, good-looking (very) sort of build (can you tell that's me :-) ) and on the odd occasion mum who is 5'2 and a size 10/12.

What do you think? Go with the ergo? I tend to think it looks like the best option and he's starting to enjoy going forward facing.. (when I carry him because he doesn't like the baby bjorn!)

Any help would really be appreciated.

:-)

The two options you have mentioned are very different. The ergo is ergonomically designed hence the name and will be more comfortable for both of you. Forward facing is possible in the ergo 360 but only recommended for short spells.
There are many other buckled ergonomic carriers too. Many are substantially cheaper than the ergo but only the ergo does front facing. If you can get to a sling library you can try some on and hire one to test it out before you commit to buy. Try www.slingpages.Co.uk
Names of others in case you can't get to a sling library - tula, connecta, manduca, lilebaby, lenny lamb.

The Lillebaby complete is brilliant. Has lumbar support does up to about age 4 with higher back support for the child than the ergo. Can forward face too for short periods and if you have another child it does right from birth without any insert. Got mine ages ago on sling heaven which is part of baba me- you can get them on the baba me part of the website too and they have 20% off everything for real nappy wrk at the moment (I am. On their fb page- don't work for them!)

Can't praise the Lillebaby enough. Check it out.

Brilliant thanks - they both look really good. Solely because of the discount amazon have on at the moment I have just ordered the ergo classic but I really appreciate both opinions. If we don't get on with the ergo it will be going on ebay and ill be buying a Lillebaby :-) Thanks for the advice.

Just remember that the ergo classic can't forward face.
