Just tried on my wrap... I'm too fat for it :(!!

I bought a VSL Smith-firm wrap a few Weeks ago for DC2 (due March) and thought I'd try to get to gross with the whole tying thing so tried it on and I'm ashamed to say that 5m out fabric doesn't fit round me

Once it has been crossed around my waist and inter-twined at the back I can only just about get the ends to either side of my hips, basically a stomach width gap!

This PG has been a major wake up call regarding my weight so I do intend on sorting it out when LO is born but is there any longer wrap out there I could use on the meantime?

You can definitely do different ties which use less fabric and I agree with Travelin that you'll probably be smaller post-birth, the baby only takes up so much room in your belly, the rest of it is placenta, water, and tummy fat.

If you do need to though you can get 6 or 7 metre wraps. If you like the VSL one it might be worth contacting her and seeing if you can swap it for a longer one?

It's possible to buy longer wraps, Didymos go up to size 8, and I believe Girasol are occasionally up to 6m or longer.

If it's too short for a Front Wrap Cross Carry, it might be long enough for a Front Cross Carry.

Also, it should be tight, bandage tight I've heard it put.

I'm not on a specific plan but trying to keep active and eat relatively healthily.

I'm 28+2 and have gained 6lbs which although not great is a massive improvement on my first pregnancy.

I'm absolutely horrified that the mahoosive bit of fabric doesn't fit me :(

the front cross carry should be fine safety wise although a little harder to get snug. There are lots of other carries you can do though. Thats the wonder of wraps. Is there a slingmeet or library near you? Someone would be only too happy to show you either a few other ties or a longer wrap.

A front wrap cross carry should be fine with a size 7/5m of fabric for size 22+.

Where she crosses at the front, takes round to the back and does a half knot, just do a double knot and don't bring back round to the front, I never tie at the front.

I am a size 22 and use a 5m wrap to carry two children, am sure you'll be fine.
