Suggestions for a forward-facing sling or carrier for 4mo

I'm looking for suggestions on a good supportive carrier or sling for my 4 month old.
We have a mei tai and ahve been using it since birth, but now she really seems to dislike it. She wants to be held outwards to see what is going on and I'm not comfortable doing a back carry yet.
Which forward facing carriers are comfy and supportive for babies?

Could you try a hip carry with the Mei Tai? Much comfy for you and little one then FFO. Then the baby can see forward but is still in M/froggy postion
I found back carrying requires practice over the bed at home for a week or two then a trip or two to the local shop and now I love it. Great for shopping or grump baby in the house time.

Thanks for the suggestions.
hazchem - I did think about a side carry and got as far as googling instructions but I read it was for 6mo+. I do quite fancy that though so ight have a go. Any ideas why it is recommended for that age group and over?

green I have tried having her higher, but she's having none of it! She wants to flail her arms and legs around at the minute and see everything and doesn't want to be pressed close to me Sad

Maybe a ring sling (NOT a Babasling, a proper ring sling) and carry her on your hip? If she has reasonably good upper body control you could try a hip carry with a mei tai.

It is a phase that will pass - not worth forking out for a new carrier for imo.

Oh it might be to do with head support/control as they need will have less of the back support. This is a wild guess!
You can back carry from new born. You need to have the waist strap up quite high when they are young so they can see over your shoulder.

I superman DS now to get him on my back but hip scooting might be easier. I spent some time practicing with a pillow so i new how to do it before trying it with DS.

Opps something to add is she arms in or out at the moment? she might like arms out. I think they need good head control for arms out.

pootle I do have a ring sling that I've never used with her yet. I will google hip carry with that, thanks!
hazchem she is arms in at the moment. I didn't know you could do arms out - I am a real novice when it comes to babywearing - I can only do a simple front carry! Will get practising though!
We tried a hip carry with the mei tai this morning and she seemed happy enough - I just need to practice getting it a bit ore comfortabe around my neck.
Thanks for all of the advice and suggestions, ladies!

You might find going to a sling meet helpful. Just google Sling meet ot find one close. People are friendly and normally pretty good at helping out with positions ect
