Does your back and neck stronger the more often you carry?

I'm VERY weak. And can carry for around 20mins before have to put down.

In my normal life I have spent 37 years finding ways to avoid carrying anything ever.

To a certain degree obviously carrying extra poundage is going to be felt somewhere (as if you'd all of a sudden put on half a stone or whatever) - for me, it's my knees, extra load-bearing takes its toll, but that's all it is - it's not like anywhere is particularly strained.

If you're wrapping/carrying well and the positioning is good, it shouldn't put any strain as such on your back or neck, as a good carrier will spread the weight, and a wrap can be used to do the same. You should be able to distribute it around your waist, your shoulders, your middle back, your hips etc, all depending on the carry.

What sort of carrier do you have? Have you been to a sling meet/library? I'd definitely recommend going along if you have one near you as they can help to make sure you're not putting extra stress anywhere.

Good idea about a sling meet. Pretty certain I am carrying correctly though but probably always things to learn. Perhaps there is something about my shape etc.

What age is you baby and what are you carrying in?

I am always weak when I have given birth as my stomach muscles split so I have no core strength...it depends on the type of sling for me, with my first one that I owned I could do 3/4 of an hour comfortably and an hour max if I really needed to.

With the current sling I've gone four hours /five hours and been quite comfortable.

Baby is 2weeks old and have a gauze wrap. HE likes it. Stuff him in and he goes straight to sleep.

I dunno the name of the way I wrap. I do two versions but the are kind of the same just one has the pouch-thing on the inside and the other on the outside.
