hi

went out today with ds 2yo in buggy and me in mac for the first time, it was great being hands free! when dc2 arrives in a couple of weeks or so i will hopefully be doing the sling and single buggy combo, so just wondering how to keep the baby dry in the sling without having to resort to an umbrella?

interested in ways for all ages, as hoping to keep up the sling/buggy combo for as long as i can physically manage it Grin

many thanks

yes it was one of dh's macs i was wearing to accomodate my bump Grin but how would i cover up baby's head yet still allow him or her to breathe iyswim?

I have one of these rain poncho which has a hole at the front and a hood for them as well as a hood and hole on the back for back carries.

or hardcore babywearers have one of these which are ££ but versitile and cosy.

Wow love the kinder coat tho ws need to convince dh...otherwise the poncho looks v good too! Does anyone know if these work with stretchy wraps? I have a close carrier for out and about in the early days and all the pics show older babies in a SSC, which we'll only move onto after a few months

I managed to find a wool cloak cape thingy in a charity shop. As it's wool the rain sort of slides off it. As it's button up I can wear DS on back or front and it still fits. Maybe keep an eye out for that sort of thing

I got a poncho from Primark for a few quid that zips up over me and DS in whichever sling I've got him in (front carries obv). He's got a waterproof hat, or is asleep so tucked inside the poncho.

Or if you're crafty you could always do this with a waterproof jacket....

i can see how the hat and normal mac/poncho would work for an older baba, even after a few months, but i just cant my head around a newborn and that combo, i'm probably being really slow Blush dh did actually used to use his hoodies and zip them up over ds in a mei tai when he was a few months old. but if all goes well with the birth and i don't have lots of physical problems like last time, then the plan is to sling the baby from quite early on this time.

many thanks
