I am looking to get a sling for DS2 to use a bit like a hands free kit for when I am alone with DCs. I tried a Baba sling with a doll but somehow could not adjust it in a way which felt safe.
If you have a sling that you love please come and tell me which one it is and why it's good. Equally, let me know which ones you found disappointing.
Thank you!

Woven wrap. I have a nati baby, but any brand is good. You can do front and back carries with even quite heavy toddlers and they look beautiful.

Ps - if you prefer a clippy one then connecta are attractive, comfortable and have g ood safety features on the buckles

I loved my babyhawk which held baby very close in kangaroo fashion to begin with and was later great for doing walks with older baby rucksack fashion. They are pricier than when i got mine but i did love it and have just passed it on to my brother and sil.

I've just got a Moby wrap for 3wk old DS2. So far it's been really good, I've got the hang of putting it on and DS2 has fallen asleep in it each time. Haven't worn it for a prolonged period of time as yet, am working up to it but I'm really pleased with it.

I started out with Ergo with infant insert. Loved it.
Moved onto BabyHawk (full buckle one). Loved it.
Moved onto toddler Huckepack. Loved it.
Moved onto custom Kanga XTP. Love it

Have you got a slingmeet near you can go to? It's the best way to try out different slings/find out how to use them properly.

I loved my Moby when DDs were new, we have moved onto Rose & Rebellion, which I find really good too.

DS is two weeks, 3.6kg ish. I'd like to wear him on the front so I can have my hand free while dealing with DS1 (20 mo). I don't think I'll be wearing him beyond 1 yo.

Oh yes, and if it could pack small, it would be great!

I liked my Wilkinet, but absolutely loved my Moby wrap :) So comfy for me and DS. DH and I both used it a lot.

i love my close/caboo - find it quick & easy to use by myself and comfy - not great head support for a larger young baby, mine is 8 wks but rocketing towards 15lb and her head is well clear of the top, luckily she has great head control but for a 'floppier' baby it may not work?

TitaniaP · 31/05/2012 04:12

Naturalmamas FSOT (for sale or trade) is a great place to look for 2nd slings too.

jetstar · 31/05/2012 06:13

Ooh helpful thread dialm I am also looking for a sling, but at this rate the DC's will be starting school before I have decided :)
Would recommend going to a sling meet, people very nice and helpful there (make it look very easy) I like the look of the close caboo (they are on kiddicare for about £50)
