Woven wraps -I can't stretch to a Didymos

Can anyone recommend a sling which compares to the Didymos but not as expensive. Loved this sling when I tried it but finances just don't permit at the moment.

I don't have a sling library near me. How do the Kari Me Moby and the Close carrier compare?

Thanks

They're both stretchy wraps rather than woven, so may not be suitable for what you're looking for if it's for anything other than a tiny.

Have a look here for a preloved one Smile

I second trying to find a preloved one, my didy is the best wrap I have, I adore it. I've used a variety of other woven wraps but not much compares.

I have a BB Slen, which I still use occasionally with DD (2.5). I've never tried a Didymos (couldn't afford, so thought I'd better avoid!)

If you're planning to use your sling much past 6 months I'd definitely go for a woven rather than a stretchy (which is what the one's you've listed are).

I dont know these slings but Googling them they look like simple ring slings. Could you not make one fairly easily.

THIS is the first tutorial on making one I found. I'm sure there are others out there

Wraps hipo. It is the fabric, you could make your own easily if you could source fabric. I have several wraps and have borrowed a few and my didy is the most comfortable and supportive one (well that and a storchenwiege. Ellaroos are pretty good and not as thick so not quite as supportive but also cooler in summer and you'll find one for not too much money.

Thank you all so much for your replies.

I have a boba (which I love) and bought a freedom sling for use with my DS when he was smaller but didn't really get around to using it (had a EMCS so was a bit cautious at first). I'll check out the preloved also the storchenwiege and Ellaroos and prices and let you know what I decide.

Thanks again

German ebay www.ebay.de can be a great place to source 2nd hand Didymos. You do need to check that the seller will accept paypal, and will ship to the UK, but there's lots of choice and some good prices.

I've just bought a Shantywrap, new on EBay for £36 - it hasn't arrived yet but I'll let you know. You can also buy direct from the Shantywrap website for £40 but I felt safer making payments via eBay and ended up getting it a bit cheaper.

joymaker · 09/05/2012 10:05

Ooo thank you so much everyone Grin. I'm sure I will find something suitable (and lovely Smile) ....who knows now maybe even a cut price and broken in didy.

For new woven wraps Lenny Lambs are lovely. I would have one but found a bargain didy on ebay

joymaker · 19/05/2012 13:29

Guess what eveyone I managed to get a cut price (£36) and broken in didy from german ebay! It's the Jacquard Jakob design and lovely (It does have a tiny snag in it, which was listed in the description - does anyone have any tips on how not to make it worse, I would hate to catch it)

Thanks heaps for the idea pootle I'm so happy (feel ridiculous should I really be this happy Hmm ?)

I think this wrap thing is addictive. Now I also want a Lenny lamb and a Storchenwiege (which I hasten to add a won't be getting unless finances improve!)

CornishKK how is your Shantywrap, you said you'd come back and report?
