Toddler not keen on being in Patapum. Do I risk getting a different carrier?

DD2 doesn't much like being in the patapum for any length of time. She struggles, scratches and tips herself backwards so she is hanging upside down (NB she goes on my front as I am rubbish at back carries).

This is a pain as I really need to be able to put her in the carrier from time to time.

Am wondering about getting a different carrier that is longer in the body as part of the problem is that the patapum doesn't contain her very well. Would an Ergo be worth the investment? ( I want another buckle carrier rather than a tie one.)

Any/all advice appreciated.

I really didn't like the patapum I tried. I found it too stiff and the shoulder padding was ridiculously bulky. I loved our Ergo. But tbh I think the issue here mightn't be the carrier as much as the position. At 12 mo my ds wouldn;t tolerate being on my front. Putting them on your back just requires a few practices, and they enjoy it so much more ime.

Hmm, maybe it is the carrying position then.

I managed to carry DD1 in the Patapum till she was nearly two, mostly on my front but occasionally on my back.

The problem I had with back carries with DD1 was that I could never see what she was doing with her hands, so she'd sweep things off supermarket shelves, pull my hair, etc. and I found it all a bit of a stress!

DD2 is even more of a little monkey so am scared what she might get up to out of sight!

Not quite sure what to do really.
