Best sling for carrying a toddler while pregnant?

I've just found out I'm pregnant. At the moment I carry 15 MO DS around in a patapum, but I can't see how the waistband is going to work with a bump. I need to use a sling to get him to the childminder's by public transport and foot; taking the pushchair is out of the question (too many stairs on the journey and nowhere to store it at the CM's place) and he's too little to walk.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what would be a safe and comfortable alternative? DS is a lightweight (25th centile) but tall.

I found that some buckle carriers work more easily than others pregnant - some are okay clipped under the bump, some just seem to get uncomfortable.

My favourite carrier when pregnant is a woven wrap - I had my four year old on my back for a bit yesterday at 36 weeks pregnant and it was fine. It is a bit of a learning curve for back carries, but is do-able (I started learning to wrap with a 12 month old when 5 months pregnant, and started with back carries). I like the fact that you can tie it well above the bump so it doesn't aggravate at all.

Are you anywhere near a sling meet or sling library where you could try one out and get some help tying it?

I'd second a wrap. I have a fab Dreamcarrier buckle sling but imagine it would t work well with a bump. Get thee to a sling meet pronto :)

My Connecta doesn't go anywhere near the bump (however, if you've got big boobs, it might not work quite so well!! Worth checking out, though)

Ooh, like the look of the Connecta! Big boobs are certainly not an issue for me, even when pregnant Grin.

It's off to the South London sling library for me then, unless anyone knows of one closer to Islington...

As far as I'm aware there are only two London sling libraries and both are in the south - South London Sling Library in West Norwood and Greenwich & Lewisham Sling Library in Blackheath

IC - do you wear your connecta above or below the bump?
